Looking for a cool spot to hang out with your study friends after class? Or a convenient place to work on a paper between lectures? Try café Maslow! It’s just a stone’s throw away from the Faculty of Science, and it has everything you need to ease all that academic stress.

Cosy atmosphere
You can find Maslow next to the Science Park train tunnel, on the ground floor of the tall green student dorm building. Given this location, Maslow’s main clientele are students and locals. Inside it’s cosy: the carpets on the floor, the noticeable wallpaper and the orange accessories give you a true Dutch and homely feeling. And for the biology students of the faculty, I’m sure you will like the plants that are hanging on the ceiling!

If you’d rather sit outside, Maslow also has a great terrace. The modern and homely design continues at the terrace, where you might find the owner’s dog taking a nap. Do you need to work on some homework assignments? You can bring your laptop – there’s free Wi-Fi! The bar close to the window is a popular spot for ‘laptopping’ students.

Great and affordable menu
Maslow has a Middle Eastern and Mediterranean kitchen. From a luxurious croque-monsieur to an afternoon snack, the menu offers vegetarian and biological options too. For a tasty vegetarian lunch, you could take a pita with different types of hummus for example. Another popular and signature dish is the Maslow burger: a large beef burger with fries and a salad. If you visit Maslow for a drink, there is a variety of soft drinks, alcoholic drinks and organic coffee and tea. Even for beer and wine there are organic options! Are you on your way home or going to a lecture? You can also order takeaway food and drinks. A tasty organic coffee will certainly help you to stay awake in class!

Maslow uses a special kind of self-service: you order at the bar, and you get a buzzer that warns you when your meal is ready to be picked up. This keeps the prices affordable, even on a student budget – just 2.95 euros for a portion of spring rolls and 1.80 euros for a beer!

Have a look for yourself
Maslow is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a ‘borrel’. On weekdays from 08:30 until 21:00 (Fridays until 22:00), on weekends from 11:00 until 22:00. New are the Friday afternoon drinks. Every Friday from 17:00 until 19:00 there is happy hour at Maslow’s with cheap drinks, free snacks and music. It’s the perfect moment to let go of the pressure from your academic week and start the weekend. So check it out (if you haven’t already), and let me know in the comments what you think!
